๐Ÿ–ผ Selling prints

Clients can order prints straight from their gallery, or from portfolio albums you mark "sell prints". They pay you through your own Square or payment link, and Showpiece never takes a cut. Then the print gets made one of two ways: automatically through your own Prodigi account, or by you, through the pro lab you already use. This guide covers both, with a walkthrough for each lab. Lab details were checked in September 2026; labs change their menus and prices, so trust what you see on their site if it differs.

How it works (either way)

  1. Payments โ†’ Print shop: add the products you sell with your price. Choose "I fulfil it" for a lab you order from yourself, or a Prodigi product if you've connected Prodigi.
  2. For prints you fulfil, set one flat shipping charge per order (or leave it blank if shipping is built into your prices). Prodigi products use Prodigi's live shipping price for the client's address instead.
  3. Your client taps ๐Ÿ–ผ Print on a photo, picks a product and quantity, and enters their shipping address. They're billed through your Square or payment link, with shipping and your sales tax added.
  4. When it's paid (Square marks it automatically; for a payment link, click Mark paid), the order moves to "paid โ€” to fulfil" or goes straight to Prodigi.

๐Ÿ’ก Price for your time, not just the lab. A common starting point is 2โ€“3ร— your lab cost for prints, more for wall art. Your lab's price list plus shipping is your floor.

Option A: Prodigi (automatic)

Prodigi is a print-on-demand lab network that accepts orders from software over an API, which is why Showpiece can send your orders to it automatically. It prints US orders in the US, charges your card for each order, and ships to your client in plain packaging with no prices inside. Nothing to do per order.

It's the hands-off option. If you're loyal to a pro lab's colour and papers, use Option B below; you can also run both side by side.

  1. Sign up free at dashboard.prodigi.com/register. There are no setup or monthly fees. Choose USD as your currency: Prodigi can't change it later, and Showpiece quotes in dollars.
  2. Add a payment method in the dashboard (Visa, Mastercard, Amex or PayPal). Prodigi charges it for each order when the order goes into production; there's no balance to top up.
  3. Optional but worth it: order a sample pack (your first sample order is 50% off) so you know how their papers and canvases look before your clients see them.
  4. Get your API key: click the gear icon (top right) โ†’ Integrations โ†’ API โ†’ Show API Key. Copy the whole key.
  5. In Showpiece, go to Payments โ†’ Print shop โ†’ Automatic printing with Prodigi, paste the key, and click Connect. Showpiece checks the key with Prodigi before saving it, and stores it encrypted.
  6. Add products: choose "Prodigi prints & ships it", pick a product (fine art prints, canvases, framed prints) and set your price. Showpiece shows roughly what you keep after lab cost.
  7. That's it. When a client pays, the order goes to Prodigi on its own, the status updates itself (sent to Prodigi โ†’ printing โ†’ shipped), and your client gets their tracking link by email.

๐Ÿ’ก Testing first? Prodigi also has a sandbox (separate login and a separate key; tick "sandbox key" when connecting). Sandbox orders are never charged or printed. Swap in your live key before you sell for real โ€” the two can't be mixed. Prodigi works out its own tax on your lab bill; if you have a resale certificate, ask support@prodigi.com how to put it on file. Photos too small for a size aren't offered at that size.

Option B: your own pro lab (you place the order)

Miller's, WHCC, Bay Photo and Nations don't let software place orders on your own account, so for these you place the lab order yourself. It takes a few minutes per order, and every one of them can ship straight to your client in unbranded packaging.

  1. In Payments โ†’ Print shop, add each product as "I fulfil it", named the way you'd order it (e.g. "8ร—10 lustre print"), with your price and a flat shipping charge.
  2. When an order is paid, you get an email with the client's shipping address and a link to the full-resolution original. The same details are under Payments โ†’ Print shop โ†’ Orders โ†’ Fulfil.
  3. Download the original (the link lasts 7 days), then order it from your lab using the walkthrough for your lab below, shipping to your client's address.
  4. When the lab sends tracking, paste it into the order in Showpiece and click Mark shipped. Your client gets an email with the tracking link.

๐Ÿ’ก Before selling, open an account with your lab and order their free or discounted test prints. It's the easiest way to check your screen matches their prints.

Option C: WHCC, automatic (when available)

WHCC doesn't let software place orders on each photographer's own account, so this runs on Showpiece's WHCC account and is billed to you. It shows up under Payments โ†’ Print shop once it's live.

  1. Payments โ†’ Print shop โ†’ Automatic printing with WHCC: enter the return address you want on WHCC's shipping labels, add a card (it's stored by Square, not by us), and tick the box agreeing to the lab charges.
  2. Add WHCC products (lustre, glossy or deep matte prints by size) with your price, and set your shipping charge to cover drop shipping (about $8).
  3. When a client pays you for one, Showpiece charges your card WHCC's exact cost for that order (prints, drop shipping, any tax) plus card processing of 3.5% + 15ยข, then places the order. You get an email receipt for every charge.
  4. WHCC prints it and ships it to your client with your return address; your client gets tracking by email automatically.

๐Ÿ’ก If your card is declined, nothing is sent to WHCC and you're emailed to update it and fulfil that order yourself. If WHCC can't produce an order after the charge, it's refunded minus the card-processing part.

Miller's Professional Imaging

The largest pro lab in the US, and the one many photographers already use. Fast: about a day in the lab, and free next-day shipping on most print sizes when it ships to you.

  1. Open a free account at millerslab.com/signup (contact details plus a short questionnaire about your business). Add a card: Miller's needs one on file to order and to see prices.
  2. New accounts get four free 8ร—10 sample prints โ€” order them first to check colour.
  3. To fill a Showpiece order: sign in and use Online Ordering โ†’ Prints in your browser (the simplest way to order one print). ROES and Designer Plus work too if you already use them.
  4. Upload the original from your Showpiece email. Miller's recommends an 8-bit sRGB JPEG at maximum quality; for an 8ร—10 that's about 2000ร—2500 pixels or more.
  5. Choose the size and paper you sold, and pick "color correction included" or "no correction" (no correction prints your edit exactly).
  6. At checkout, choose to ship to your client's address. Miller's offers white-label drop shipping; check the drop-ship fee shown at checkout and build it into your Showpiece shipping charge.
  7. Place the order, then add the tracking in Showpiece and click Mark shipped.

๐Ÿ’ก If you have a resale or tax-exempt certificate, put it on file with Miller's so you aren't charged sales tax on prints you resell.

WHCC

Loved for colour consistency and packaging. Prints are usually made in 1โ€“2 days.

  1. Open a free account at whcc.com (Become a Client). It's a short questionnaire and opens straight away; you'll get an email with a link to order up to five free 8ร—10 test prints. Order them.
  2. To fill a Showpiece order: sign in and use Online Ordering in your browser. Upload the original: a high-quality JPEG (90% or higher) with an sRGB or Adobe RGB profile, 300 dpi.
  3. Pick the size and paper. Note: web orders print as-is. WHCC's optional colour correction ($1.50 per image) is only available in ROES, so do your final edit before exporting.
  4. At checkout, choose drop ship and enter your client's address. It's $7.95 per order; the package has no invoice and no WHCC branding, and in most cases shows your business name and return address. Premium packaging is an extra $5.50 with drop ship.
  5. WHCC has an $18 minimum per product type, but it's waived for basic drop-ship orders, so a single print to a client is fine.
  6. Place the order, then add the tracking in Showpiece and click Mark shipped.

Bay Photo Lab

A long-running West Coast pro lab (it took over Pro Prints in 2026), known for metal prints and wall art. Prints under 30" take 2โ€“3 days.

  1. Sign up free at my.bayphoto.com/users/sign_up and confirm your email. Your welcome email includes 25% off your first order, a good time to order sample prints.
  2. Reselling in a state that requires it? Upload your resale certificate under My Account โ†’ Tax exemption certificates.
  3. To fill a Showpiece order: use Online Ordering in your browser (order.bayphoto.com). Upload the original as a flattened 8-bit JPEG (sRGB, Adobe RGB or ProPhoto) โ€” don't resize it; Bay Photo prefers the full-size file.
  4. Pick the size and paper. Colour correction by a technician is available (it's fullest in Bay ROES); skip it if your file is final.
  5. At checkout, ship to your client's address. Bay Photo charges no drop-ship fee: the box is generic, with no invoice and nothing that says Bay Photo. Shipping starts at $3.99 Economy (3โ€“10 days) or $7.99 Standard (2โ€“5 days). Boutique Packaging is an optional upgrade in the cart.
  6. Place the order, then add the tracking in Showpiece and click Mark shipped.

Nations Photo Lab

The easiest to start with: a 30-second signup and a friendly website. Prints take about 2 production days.

  1. Create a free account at nationsphotolab.com (name, email, password, and what you shoot). No approval step.
  2. Want to check colour first? Nations offers free watermarked evaluation prints (up to five images, each printed corrected and uncorrected; you pay shipping). They're ordered through ROES.
  3. To fill a Showpiece order: order on the website (not the mobile app โ€” the app can't drop ship). Upload the original as an 8-bit sRGB JPEG.
  4. On each photo, choose Add CC (colour correction) or No CC. No CC prints your file exactly as-is, but it isn't covered by their satisfaction guarantee.
  5. At checkout, enter your client as the shipping recipient, then tick "Drop Ship this Order" under billing. The package has no Nations branding or prices, names you as the sender, and includes a plain packing slip. Contiguous US only.
  6. Website orders of $89 or more ship free by Economy; smaller orders start around $7.50โ€“$9.95. Place the order, then add the tracking in Showpiece and click Mark shipped.

Which should I choose?

Want zero work per order: Prodigi (or WHCC automatic printing, once it's live). Want the lab you already trust on your own account: set up your products as "I fulfil it" and follow your lab's walkthrough above. Plenty of photographers use both โ€” Prodigi for everyday prints, their pro lab for albums and premium wall art.

Fees and times above were taken from each lab's own help pages in September 2026 and do change; check your lab's checkout before you set your prices.
